For each shipment leg that is part of the load, the distance from the Origin Shipping Location to the Destination Shipping Location will be established. This value may already be persistent in the Shipping Leg table. If so, the existing value will be used. Otherwise, it must be computed using standard protocols for distance retrieval.
If a Fixed Itinerary Distance is not available for one of the loads attached to the trip, trip pro-ration methods that consider distance will not assign any portion of the charges to that load.
If Pro-Ration Strategy is one of:
Pro-Rate Based on Weight and Distance
Pro-Rate Based on Volume and Distance
Pro-Rate Based on Pallets and Distance
Pro-Rate Based on Weight, Volume and Distance
and distances cannot be established for any of the legs attached to a load, or a distance is available for just one of the load's shipment legs, the pro-ration formulae will effectively revert to using the equivalent strategy that does not include distance as basis for cost distribution.
This means that:
If the Pro-Ration Strategy is Pro-Rate Based on Weight and Distance and distances cannot be computed, the pro-ration formulae will revert to using Pro-Rate Based on Weight strategy.
If the Pro-Ration Strategy is Pro-Rate Based on Volume and Distance and distances cannot be computed, the pro-ration formulae will revert to using Pro-Rate Based on Volume strategy.
If the Pro-Ration Strategy is Pro-Rate Based on Pallets and Distance and distances cannot be computed, the pro-ration formulae will revert to using Pro-Rate Based on Pallets strategy.
If the Pro-Ration Strategy is Pro-Rate Based on Weight, Volume, and Distance and distances cannot be computed, the pro-ration formulae will revert to using Pro-Rate Based on Weight and Volume strategy.
