Supersede functionality in rating will compare the amount computed for one tariff charge to the amount previously computed for a different tariff charge for the same tariff service combination. If the supersede rule for the superseding tariff charge is satisfied, the rating results for the superseded tariff charge are eliminated. If the requirements for the superseding tariff charge are not satisfied, the rating results for the superseding tariff charge are not preserved.
You specify supersede rules via the Details tab of each tariff condition (or tariff option) property sheet. When supersede rules are specified for a tariff charge, rating will only compare this condition (or option) with the conditions (or options) above it in the Rating Sequence list. Use the Move Up and Move Down buttons on the List of Tariff Conditions (or List of Tariff Options) to sequence your conditions (or options) in the appropriate order for the comparison that you want the system to perform. Note that a condition will only supersede other conditions; an option will only supersede other options.
For example: If you want WGT to be superseded by SKID only when the amount for SKID is higher, you must sequence these conditions so that WGT is computed before SKID.
Note: The setting for the Apply Charge at Trip/Booking Level flag must be the same for both the superseding and superseded charge. Also, superseding is not supported for charges where Apply Charge at Trip/Booking Level is checked and Assign to Booking is checked for the corresponding tariff service.
