Equipment percentage utilization factor

Percentage utilization factor of equipment is calculated based on the loading type of an item, quantity to be shipped, and the maximum quantity derived from the equipment’s corresponding item loading factor.

Percentage item utilization factor = (Quantity of the item to be shipped/ Maximum Quantity from corresponding Item Loading Factor)*100

Percentage utilization factor for an equipment= Sum of percentage utilization factors of all items to be shipped in the equipment.

For example, consider the following example to calculate percentage utilization factor for 53 ft. equipment. Let the loading type be interlaced for all items.

Item ID

Equipment

Loading Type

Maximum Quantity from corresponding Item Loading Factor

Quantity to ship

A

53 ft

Interlaced

1000

500

B

53 ft

Interlaced

1000

200

C

53 ft

Interlaced

1000

100

Percentage utilization factor of the equipment= [(500/1000) + (200/1000) + (100/1000)]*100=80%

Let us consider another example to calculate percentage utilization factor for 53 ft. equipment with different loading types for different items.

Item ID

Equipment

Loading Type

Maximum Quantity from corresponding Item Loading Factor

Quantity in the package

Quantity to ship

A

53 ft

Interlaced

1000

NA

500

B

53 ft

Interlaced

1000

NA

200

C

53 ft

Pack

50

20

200

In this example, percentage item utilization factor for the loading type, Pack= (Quantity of the item to be shipped/Quantity in the package)/ Maximum Quantity from corresponding Item Loading Factor)*100

Percentage utilization factor of the equipment= [(500/1000) + (200/1000) + (200/20)/50)]*100=90%
